Marie Greenbank

Accountant | Registered Tax Preparer | Financial Interpreter

Hi! I’m Marie.

I’m an accounting and business strategist for creative and holistic entrepreneurs and business owners.

I am excited that you stopped by because we’re a lot alike. We both want to create a successful career and an authentic life as entrepreneurs and business owners. Where our passions drive our dreams to a place where we can share something spectacular with the world.

This means that we both understand the importance of making sure we know our business's financial status. We’ve got to stay up-to-date with our Revenues, Expenses, and most importantly our Cash Flow.

We both know how challenging it can be to stay on top of our finances. Time is fleeting and our dreams sometimes get ahead of our pocketbooks. While we are busy connecting and growing our businesses, living in the big picture, the “small” details are normally what trips us up.

What we really need are operations and systems to aid us in not only understanding the financials of our businesses but enabling us to develop strategic plans that allow our businesses to thrive. I’m all about designing those types of systems, the ones that take you from “Am I making a profit?” to “my business growth strategy is...”. Keep reading to find out how I got here, where I’m going and where I can take you.

Why Me?

I’m a writer, philosophizer, and financial interpreter  (aka Accountant) who loves to promote financial literacy as a tool to unlocking your dreams.

For most people, anything related to finances, whether it be personal or business, brings about feelings of anxiety and uncertainty. It feels like it’s a completely different language, and your right, it is. Most of us don’t have confidence in our base understanding of money and financial matters, this stems from the fact that financial literacy is not part of our education.

I found this out first hand 12 years ago after finishing my undergraduate studies. I was versed in theories on the nature of man and the development of political systems but was lacking in the knowledge of how to manage my money. Leaving me asking the question of, how is it a person can go through their entire education and not have one single financial management course? Or as I like to call it “Adulting 101” classes.

While working as a Graduate Research Assistant I learned how to budget, forecast, and save not only my own money but that of the organization I was working for, as well as, my colleagues.  After helping my colleagues save hundreds of dollars a month by incorporating my financial management strategies and successfully bidding local, state, and federal grants, I decided to change the entire direction of my career from Health Policy to Accounting and Financial Management. So off I went to fill in my gaps in financial literacy. During this process of becoming I have: completed certifications; managed multi-million dollar budgets in private, nonprofit, and government organizations; as well as, learned how to help others make sense of their finances.

I am a true believer that “we don’t know what we don’t know”. How can we ask the right questions when we don’t even know that we don’t know enough to ask? If you are here you probably have encountered this thought about money and financial management in either your personal or business life. This is a frustrating state to find yourself in, especially when you are developing and trying to grow a business.

I work with entrepreneurs and business owners to fill in their financial literacy gaps through accounting, tax, and consulting services. My approach to filling in financial literacy gaps starts with embracing a state of constant growth, or in better words, becoming.

Becoming refers to the process of consistent unwavering commitment to growth, exploration, and practice every single day. As entrepreneurs and business owners, we must recognize we don’t know everything but we should strive to grow our understanding,  explore the questions we discover along the way, and practice using the tools we’ve developed.

Clients who seek out my help have generally come to the realization that there are gaps in their financial literacy and have decided they need someone to help them translate their financials. I become their financial interpreter and help them make specific data-driven strategic plans to grow their business.

Everything I do is about helping small business owners like YOU understand and implement financial strategies that get results. My goal is to give you actionable steps and systems so that you can understand what your numbers are saying and use them to grow your business so you have More Green Bank Days.

Thank you for stopping by! I appreciate you and can’t wait to help you on your entrepreneurial journey.
